Communicating with executives

- Communicating with the executive team is a really important and critical part of a PM's job, but it's also often the most dreadful part of a PM's job. But I've seen many PMs do this very effectively. A good PM often uses many techniques to make sure that the communication with executives go smoothly. But here are some of them. Number one. They answer the question directly and succinctly. They don't drift, they don't deviate from the topic. Another thing I've seen them do really well is they simplify complex concepts. As a PM, you know too much. You are in the middle of everything, but when an executive comes to you and asks the question about your work, it's important to simplify and label any complex concept so they can have an easier time understanding what you're saying.
