From the course: Networking Foundations: Wide Area Networks (WANs)

Introduction

- [Jarrel] Ever thought of your internet connection at home or the office, like your DSL lines, VPN, lease lines, or perhaps the older technologies of dial up and frame relay? These are all WAN technologies, not the number one, but WAN as in wide area network, and that is what this course is all about. In this course, we'll first introduce you to the concept of wide area network. Then we'll cover the various ways and means of connecting to the intranet. Finally, we'll discuss what you need to consider when connecting over the intranet, like the bandwidth, security reconnection, and the quality of service. Sounds exciting, isn't it? Hi, I'm Jarrel Rivera, and it is my pleasure to be your instructor in learning wide area networks. Let's start.
