- [Instructor] Now that we have physical connectivity between the switch and the PC, the next step is to gain access to the command line interface. This is done via a terminal emulation program, which is installed on the PC. There are several options available including Tera Term, Hyper Terminal and PuTTY. If you do not have a terminal program installed on your laptop or PC, you can download Tera Term for free, at the following website. So this is a large matt, and it's a free download for Tera Term 4.86. It's a terminal program. Next we must we figure the terminal emulation program settings to match the settings on the switches console port.
