- [Narrator] Let's talk about Microsoft Power BI and Amazon Athena. Power BI is a business intelligence tool used to create insight from data. It's pretty popular. With Power BI Desktop, you can design reports and dashboards using an Amazon Athena connector. How do we do that? Now, there are three modes of connecting Power BI Desktop to Athena. With the Import mode, this allows you to select the tables and columns you need for query, and just import them. With a DirectQuery option, no data is brought into Power BI. Rather, Power BI directly queries the underlying data source that is being kept within AWS. Power BI gateway is an on-premise data gateway within your AWS accounts that creates a link between the Power BI service and Athena.
