Cutting metal to size using band saws, shears, and plate saws

(rock music) - I'm here at Industrial Metal Supply, and behind me are a couple of shears. These are metal shears, capable of cutting up to about a half inch thick. These ones behind me here directly are cutting some thinner gage materials, and back in the back corner there's a machine that can handle some really thick plate. This is basically a big paper cutter for steel and aluminum. As you can see here, he's feeding in some material, slicing it to size, and there's a back gauge that determines how long that piece is going to be. This is a basic shearing process that gets started on most manufacturing, and Industrial Metal Supply supplies sheet stock or bar stock, cut to size, and so this is the starting part of getting the material to the correct size. Let's go ahead and take a look at some other machines that cut bar. This next machine is a carbide tip bar saw.
