- [Instructor] In this section, we are going to break down a very demanding niche within security auditing known as PCI. PCI stands for Payment Card Industry. Years ago, Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express came together and formed an organization called the PCI Council. This council was formed from some of the best experts around the world. They created what we know now as the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards Framework, or PCI DSS. Any business that is processing credit cards is held to PCI compliance against this framework. This is to ensure that customer credit cards are protected. At a high level, security controls include items like installing and maintaining network security controls, applying secure configurations to all systems and components, protecting stored account data, and many more.
