- [Instructor] In this video, we're going to discuss the theory of how we set up route plans in a Unified Communications environment. We can set up route plans for a router, such as a Communications Manager Express router, where that router has call routing intelligence. And we can set up route plan information for a Communications Manager server, and we're going to talk about both of these in theory. And then later on in the course, we'll see the actual configuration. First, let's discuss dial peers, which is what we would have on a Cisco IOS router, may be configured as a Communications Manager Express. We've got two kinds of dial peers. We have voiceover IP dial peers, or VoIP dial peers; and we have POTS, where POTS stands for plain old telephone service.
