- [Instructor] When you migrate your Active Directory-dependent and Windows workloads to the AWS cloud, they will need access to Active Directory Domain Controllers, or DCs. Also, if you plan to use AWS services, such as Amazon WorkSpaces, with your Active Directory account, you will need to integrate them with Active Directory. AWS Directory Service allows your directory-aware workloads, and AWS resources, to use Managed Active Directory in AWS. With AWS Directory Service, you can set up and run directories in the AWS cloud, manage users and groups, provide single sign-on to applications and services, create and apply group policy, and join Amazon EC2 instances to a domain. AWS Directory Service for Microsoft Active Directory is referred to as AWS Managed Microsoft AD. It is powered by Windows Server 2012 R2.
