- Today we're talking about materials, but what I want you to think about is the space you're in right now. Look around you. What do you see, feel, notice? What can you touch? As we're recording this, we're in a real space that I designed here at the LinkedIn campus in Carpinteria, California. This was an existing building with many technical spaces like recording booths, but also it needed some common social areas that are bright and welcoming for instructors that come here on campus. We also designed conference rooms for collaboration, individual meeting rooms, and places to recharge. Everything people see and touch and interact with here is a decision we've made. The lighting, the finished materials like carpet, counters, furniture, and signage. And we had to work within the LinkedIn standards while also creating a timeless aesthetic that we're known for.
