Surgeons specialize in the treatment of injury, disease, and deformity through operations involving the musculoskeletal system. Using a variety of instruments, and with patients under anesthesia, a surgeon corrects physical deformities, repairs bone and tissue after injuries, or performs preventive surgeries on patients with debilitating diseases or disorders. Surgeons also examine patients, perform and interpret diagnostic tests and counsel patients on preventive health care.
Qualifications
Doctorate in medicine or osteopathy
Completion of an approved U.S. orthopedic or neurosurgery residency
Board certification or eligibility or recommendation for staff membership by the Medical Advisory Committee after completion of the full credentialing process.
Demonstrates ability to work as a team member and to communicate directly and professionally
