Oral and maxillofacial surgeons work with patients of all ages from newborn babies to elderly people. They treat children who are born with or develop deformities of their skull or face including cleft lip/palate. Much of their work with young adults involves surgery following an injury or accident. In the older population they often treat oral cancer and skin tumours of the face and head. Qualifications
Oral Surgery technician experience in the operating room and private practice including knowledge in surgical implant assistance in the OR.
Knowledge of oral and maxillofacial surgery equipment and needs based on procedures performed.
Medical terminology. Must be able to provide medical necessity for procedures to insurance company.
Use of digital radiology equipment.
Computer skills necessary:
Microsoft office.
Experience as a surgical technician or oral surgery reconstructive/implant assisting.
