About Us

We Academy specialize in academic counseling and college application services for high school students, as well as assisting K-12 graders with private school applications. Currently, we are looking for a dedicated Writing Competition Teacher to join our team.

Position Overview

This is a part-time, remote position requiring 2-10 hours per week, with consistent weekly hours scheduled between 3-8pm on weekdays or weekends, depending on your availability.

Responsibilities

Develop a comprehensive 10-week syllabus tailored to the theme of the writing competition, encompassing genres like poetry, playwriting, fiction, short stories, journals, and essays.

Guide students through structured writing exercises across various genres, adhering to competition rules and requirements.

Provide constructive feedback on students' assignments to enhance their writing skills, addressing specific areas of improvement.

Assist students in selecting and refining manuscripts for competition submissions, ensuring they meet competition deadlines.

Facilitate the submission process and encourage participation in multiple writing competitions based on manuscript quality.

Qualifications

Minimum of a Master's or Doctorate degree in Literature, Journalism, Playwriting, or related fields.

Prior experience teaching high school students is essential; experience in English, Reading, or Writing preferred.

Familiarity with high school writing competitions such as the Jane Austen Society Essay Contest, The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, and New York Times Writing Contest is advantageous.

While prior writing competition experience is preferred, it is not mandatory; however, previous competition winners will be highly regarded.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract, Temporary

Pay: $30.00 - $70.00 per hour

Expected Hours: 2 - 10 per week
