Role Overview
We are looking for a hardworking and passionate Women's Wear Designer to join our growing team. This individual will work hand in hand with the Owner/Creative Director from design inception through production hand-off. This is a hands-on and collaborative role with room for creative freedom within our small team. Creation of impeccable development tech packs is crucial to the success of this role.
This is a freelance role with the opportunity to turn into full-time.
Qualifications
7+ years in fashion apparel industry required with a focus on the Contemporary market.
Detail oriented with strong organizational and problem solving skills
Solid written and verbal communication skills
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Share required
Expert in Adobe Suite and Illustrator required
Entrepreneurial spirit and passion for apparel business and ability to work effectively as a team player
Strong planning and organizational skills with a sense of priority for deadlines and attention to detail
Experience working with overseas factories.
Must understand the brand ethos and relate to our overall design aesthetic.
Responsibilities
Pitch new design ideas to Creative Director
Create trend boards to present to Creative Director to facilitate in designing the new collection
Create all sketches and CADs for new development tech packs.
Categories include woven's, cut/sew knits, fully fashioned sweaters in tops, dresses, bottoms and outerwear.
Collaborate with Technical Design during sketch hand off to identify best construction methods to achieve our vision.
Create all tech packs for development including construction details and specs.
Have a strong understanding of pattern balance and shape to help advance the development process to production by providing detailed information/ references / specs to our factories.
Track all new development sampling and follow up with factories on sampling progress and deadlines.
Conduct weekly calls with factories to review new design details.
Design new embroidery designs and work with factories on layouts.
Design and manipulate new prints for each season.
