Description
WMATA currently has 3 headquarters buildings located at 300 7th Street, SW, DC; 4100 Garden City Drive, Hyattsville, MD and 2401 Mill Road, Alexandria, VA. We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented IT Asset Inventory Personnel to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate records of all technology assets within our organization, ensuring compliance with inventory control procedures, and facilitating efficient asset utilization and management. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for maintaining an up-to-date and well-organized IT asset inventory.
This position is primarily based in an office environment (non-Remote), with occasional requirements to physically inspect and record assets in various locations. Some flexibility in working hours may be necessary to accommodate asset management activities.

Key Responsibilities
- Asset Tracking and Management: Maintain a comprehensive inventory of all IT assets, including hardware, software, peripherals, and networking equipment.
- Data Accuracy: Regularly update and validate asset records to ensure accurate and current information, including asset location, condition, ownership, and lifecycle status.
- Procurement Support: Collaborate with procurement teams to ensure accurate recording of newly acquired assets and the retirement of obsolete or decommissioned assets.
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation for asset inventory processes, procedures, and workflows.
- Auditing and Compliance: Conduct periodic audits to verify the accuracy of asset records and ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry regulations.
- Issue Resolution: Investigate and resolve discrepancies, discrepancies, and variances in asset data, and address any issues related to missing, lost, or misplaced assets.
- Asset Lifecycle Management: Monitor asset lifecycles, track warranties, licenses, and maintenance agreements, and coordinate timely asset replacements or upgrades.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT support, finance, and security, to ensure accurate asset information sharing and reporting.
- Reporting: Generate regular and ad-hoc reports on asset inventory status, utilization, and trends for management review and decision-making.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency enhancement within the asset inventory management function.
- High School diploma.
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in IT asset management, inventory control, or related roles.
- Minimum 3 years proficiency in asset management software/tools and familiarity with IT Service Management (ITSM) systems; preferably Service Now.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to reconcile complex data sets.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and levels.
- Knowledge of industry best practices for IT asset management and inventory control.
- Technical proficiency in using office productivity software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace).
- Professional certifications in IT asset management (e.g., ITAM, CSAM) are a plus.
- Ability to lift 50Ibs.
