Windows System Administrator

We are seeking a Systems Admin/Engineer to join our team on a contract-to-hire basis that will be responsible for ensuring that all IT servers are up-to-date with the latest software patches, security updates, and configurations. This role will involve working closely with our IT team to plan and execute the server updates efficiently and minimize downtime.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the IT team to develop a comprehensive plan for updating all IT servers running on Server 2008.
• Conduct thorough assessments of existing server configurations and identify areas requiring updates or improvements.
• Execute server updates, including installing software patches, security updates, and performing necessary configurations.
• Monitor server performance and troubleshoot any issues that arise during the update process.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to schedule server downtime and minimize disruptions to business operations.
• Document all updates, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures for future reference.
• Provide regular updates to the IT team and management on the progress of the server update project.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and industry best practices throughout the update process.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Proven experience as a Systems Engineer or similar role, with a focus on server administration and maintenance.
• In-depth knowledge of Windows Server operating systems, particularly Server 2008.
• Strong understanding of software patch management and server security best practices.
• Experience with server virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) is preferred.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., MCSE, CompTIA Server+) are a plus.
