**About Us**

Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation (TMPF) supports parks operations in Truckee Meadows, including Reno, Sparks, and Washoe County. As an independent nonprofit established in 2013, TMPF focuses on community health, wellness, and promoting an appreciation for the natural and cultural history found in local parks.

**Position Overview**

As an AmeriCorps Wetland Restoration Technician, you'll play a crucial role in our Wetland Restoration Program. This program aims to transform a decommissioned golf course into a functional wetland system, contributing to the Truckee Meadows Nature Study Area. Your responsibilities will involve research, invasive plant removal, native plant establishment, site monitoring, trail maintenance, and community education.

**Primary Responsibilities**

  • Implement the Wetland Restoration Program
  • Establish and record study plots
  • Remove invasive plant species
  • Conduct revegetation efforts
  • Maintain trails and bridges
  • Develop educational signage
  • Monitor study plots
  • Collect and analyze data
  • Interact with park visitors

**Secondary Responsibilities**

  • Build relationships with park visitors
  • Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers
  • Lead interpretive programs like Truckee Meadows Trails Challenge and Discover Your Parks walks

**Qualifications**

  • Passion for TMPF's mission
  • Initiative and service-oriented mindset
  • Strong communication and writing skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or professional experience
  • Previous experience as a field technician
  • Knowledge of Great Basin and wetland plant species
  • Data collection experience

**Requirements**

  • At least 17 years old
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency
  • Pass background checks

**Physical Demands**

  • Lift up to 50-70 pounds
  • Engage in physical activities
  • Work on uneven surfaces for extended periods
  • Endure varying weather conditions

**Compensation**

AmeriCorps members receive a living allowance of $8,470.59 and an Education Award of $3,172.50.
