What you will do:

As the Website Manager & Strategist, you will work to create a simple, intuitive web experience that allows users to easily find and understand the information they need. You will implement strategy, develop content, and complete day-to-day management of the website to ensure an informative, accessible, and helpful digital experience.

Primary Job Duties Include

Website Strategy & Content Development

  • Continually evaluating website to implement strategic improvements and to identify, propose, and develop new or enhanced content, structure, and functionality
  • Consulting with SCDOR subject matter experts to create, edit, and enhance content

Website Management

  • Overseeing the day-to-day management of dor.sc.gov, including publishing content and completing regular accessibility reviews
  • Serving as the primary administrator for the website content management system

Customer Experience

  • Creating a positive, consistent digital experience for our customers through solid design, development, and UX fundamentals
  • Supporting service improvement by coaching and facilitating discussions to encourage creative thinking and by testing new methods of customer-centered service delivery

Analysis and Innovation

  • Monitoring and analyzing website analytics and metrics to make continual web content improvements
  • Researching and analyzing audience needs, preferences, objectives, and methods
  • Maintaining current knowledge of industry best practices, trends, and advancements

Minimum and Additional Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree and relevant experience
  • Relevant experience or education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis with an approved equivalence by the Division of State Human Resources (DSHR)

Academic degrees must be from an accredited institution of higher learning.

Preferred Qualifications

These qualifications are not required but are considered when setting a starting salary:

  • Work experience in web design or writing for the web
  • Experience with Drupal or other content management systems, HTML, or CSS
  • Knowledge of Plain Language, AP style, or Web Content Accessibility Guidelines & Americans with Disabilities compliance
  • Experience with search engine optimization

  • Hours: Flexible hours may be available from 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday – Friday (37.5 hours per week).
  • Telework schedule: This position may be eligible to work remotely up to two days per week.
