Water Treatment Technician

Summary

Performs operations and maintenance work on a variety of Environmental Systems, Production of High Purity Water and Processing through Treatment of Wastewater.

Employee will be working with the site Environmental, Health and Safety Team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties as assigned.

Operate Environmental Treatment Systems Including

Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant

Sanitary / laboratory waste pump stations

High Purity Water System

Site Groundwater management and treatment

Well (production) water treatment.

Cooling Tower Operations and Maintenance

Performs daily monitoring of systems and facility equipment.

Gathering, compilation and interpretation of system performance data.

Performs and Documents required Preventative Maintenance (PM's)

Performs and Documents equipment / systems repairs.

Performs regeneration of deionized water beds, transfer of carbon beds and filter changes

Address / report hardware and software issues with SCADA / PLC control systems.

Response to system alarms, trouble shooting and system repair.

Perform instrumentation calibrations on all environmental systems.

Assists in compiling environmental documentation data for water resources, regulatory program compliance, data management and analysis through field work.

Monitor safety and environmental system to include secondary containment, safety showers / eyewashes, hazardous waste streams.

Operate waste collection system (Labeling and handling of Hazardous and Non-Hazardous waste).

Coordination with contract vendors on equipment installation start-up and testing.

Performs general housekeeping duties in the work areas and shop.

Complies with all Industry and JLL safety requirements and programs.

Member of site emergency response team (ERT)

Complete all training required for role

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Have a minimum of 3-5 years of applicable working experience in water and wastewater treatment. A High school diploma or equivalent years of relevant experience.

Two - Four years trade school, with industrial or commercial experience preferred.

Knowledge of the following -- basic pumping systems, basic HVAC, basic plumbing, and basic electrical. Knowledge in standard industry terminology and specialized maintenance practices on water treatment / equipment operations. Knowledge and experience with basic hand tools.

Ability to read and interpret building layouts, system drawings and manufacturers' equipment specifications.

Experience with standard computing systems (MS word / excel / teams / slack)

Requires teamwork attitude.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Ability to write simple correspondence.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to clients and other employees of the organization.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs for inspections and maintain balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear around loud noises for emergency procedure practice or implementation.

Ability to climb ladders up to 40 feet and lift 60 lbs. repeatedly. Ability to locate equipment sound source, ability to discern color of alarm indicators. Equipment inspections may require getting on hands and knees to reach areas difficult to access. Requires ability to communicate well in both oral and written reports, customer service skills. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Must be able to work and act independently, safely, and make solid decisions in the field.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic

or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Work Schedule

The employee will be required to work 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 7am to 3:30pm. There is occasional weekend (Saturday), as well as occasional weeknight evenings.

There is no travel required in this position.

Position does require work during annual site shutdown(s); typically, in April and Aug. / September (Labor Day Weekend).
