The City of St. Helens is seeking a full-time Water Quality Operator I or II to join our dedicated Public Works team. Our competitive pay ranges depend on skills and experience.

  • Operator I = Step 1 ($4,468) to Step 5 ($5431)
  • Operator II = Step 1 ($5,311) to Step 5 ($6,456)

YOUR SCHEDULE AS A WATER QUALITY OPERATOR I OR II

This role operates Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with potential for occasional weekend work once fully trained to maintain operational continuity.

YOUR DAY AS WATER QUALITY OPERATOR I OR II

Your day begins with ensuring our water treatment facilities are well-maintained and operational. You'll conduct laboratory tests on water samples, including pH and chlorine levels, and maintain detailed records. Routine equipment maintenance and repairs are also part of your responsibilities, ensuring smooth operation of our systems. You'll work both indoors and outdoors, engaging in diverse tasks.

Requirements For Water Quality Operator i Or Ii

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • Understanding of basic mechanical processes
  • Willingness to become certified in water quality operations
  • Basic computer skills (spreadsheets and word processing)
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to work safely and follow safety protocols
