Job Description And Duties

The Engineering Support Branch, Closure & Technical Support Section is responsible for detailed technical reviews of landfill site reports such as, but not limited to; landfill closure and postclosure maintenance plans, environmental control and monitoring systems and remediation plans, corrective action plans and post closure land use plans. The Section provides technical review and regulatory assistance on implementing solid waste landfill regulations and statutes to protect public health, safety, and the environment. The Section is responsible for providing technical review and guidance, both written and verbal communication, to landfill operators/owners/consultants, local enforcement agencies (LEA), and other CalRecycle programs. This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position’s designated headquarters location, as indicated on their duty statement, at their own expense.

Must have bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering or a related field.

Registration as a California Professional Engineer in one of the above fields is highly preferred. Registration as an Engineer-in-Training is preferred.

A valid CA Professional Engineering License (Civil) is required for Range D appointment.

This position requires that you possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License (CDL). You must answer the questions addressing your CDL on your applications.
