Warehouse Freight Handler- Night Shift

Job Description

Job Summary: As a warehouse freight handler, you will play a crucial role in the logistics and operations of our warehouse facility. Your primary responsibility will be to efficiently and safely handle incoming and outgoing freight, ensuring accurate sorting, labeling, and loading/unloading of shipments. This position requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Loading and Unloading: Safely and efficiently load and unload freight from trucks and containers using manual and powered equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, hand trucks).
• Sorting and Staging: Organize and stage freight for storage or shipment according to established procedures and safety guidelines.
• Labeling and Documentation: Ensure proper labeling and documentation of freight, including verifying counts and inspecting for damage.
• Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records by counting and recording inventory levels during receiving and shipping processes.
• Quality Control: Inspect incoming and outgoing shipments to verify accuracy and condition, reporting any discrepancies to supervisors.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others.
• Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with warehouse team members and other departments to ensure timely processing of shipments and efficient warehouse operations.
  
  

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in a warehouse environment or freight handling preferred.
• Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds or more) repeatedly.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
• Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification may be required.
  
  

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds or more).
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift.
• Comfortable working in various weather conditions if required.
  
  

Work Environment:

• Fast-paced warehouse environment with exposure to noise and varying temperatures.
• May require working evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed.
