Job Title : Support Data Engineer

Duration : Long Term

I have an open position for a Support Data Engineer with Fidelity Investments. Looking for candidates with 3-5 years of experience. To clarify, people can come from a background of being an ETL / SQL developer. We are looking for someone with 3-5 years of experience who wants to grow.

Overview

Will be joining and internal team supporting data engineering/ETL teams using Adeptia for building data transformations.

  • Primary responsibilities will be working with those development teams to troubleshoot any issues (i.e., data transformation pipelines, did the data get to where it was supposed to go? Is it in the correct format? Was the data integrity compromised?)
  • Help with tool upgrades/configurations as needed
  • Leverage logging/monitoring tools to identify bugs and troubleshoot (i.e., Datadog/Splunk)
  • Adeptia tool can be taught, but need to understand the basics of ETL and data transformation to be able to identify potential issues that would arise in a transformation job and when/where they would occur. Informatica or DataStage background, etc.; or a custom framework (i.e., Spark) would be okay.
  • Need high level systems knowledge outside of just ETL, knowledge of how APIs work and move data within an application and to/from a database required. Doesn't need actual programming/API build experience
  • Does not need experience building ETL pipelines from scratch. Opportunity to learn that skill on the job and step into more of a data engineering role
  • CI/CD, Jenkins, Udeploy--don't need to know walking into the role but should be open to learning. Will be supporting and enabling the pipeline eventually.
  • SQL querying experience needed--how to create a table, perform CRUD functions, simple queries and stored procedures
  • Scripting experience nice to have--Adeptia has its own custom plugins and is largely a Java-based system, but since they'll teach the tool, they can teach Adeptia scripting/config.
