The Job

The VP of Technology, Enterprise Applications, adapts at leading agile, modern application program and engineering teams working in a fast-paced healthcare payer environment, delivering technology solutions with a service-oriented mindset. Role is responsible for overseeing the Program, Software Engineering, Service Management functions for our Enterprise Application Team along with our Technology Enterprise Services teams at SCAN.

You Will

  • Develops and works with IT leadership in translating our strategy into actionable products, engineering, and technology roadmaps.
  • Roles is instrumental in developing the technical aspects of the company’s strategy to ensure alignment with business goals, working to set the broader technology strategy.
  • Innovative leader bringing thought leadership and new ways of working to our software engineering teams, working with delivery leads and LOB teams to manage software development lifecycle processes, leveraging cloud and Agile based engineering techniques, delivering high quality products in a cost-efficient manner.
  • Manages teams leading large cross-functional healthcare payer technology system implementations, serving as the escalation point and overall technology leader in charge of implementations. Understanding of payer applications and technology ecosystems is required to be successful in the role.
  • Managing IT Service Management teams including oversight of offshore vendors, working to deliver quality solutions at an onshore/offshore optimized cost structure.
  • Oversight of IT Enterprise Services functions include change control, project management office (PMO), release and vendor management. This role will be responsible for managing the maturity of these processes across all IT teams and vendors.
  • Represent the technology team by communicating direction and data-driven insights to leadership peers, customers, partners, including our Board of Directors.
  • Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching and counseling employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures. Includes developing objectives and key results (OKR’s) and managing teams to achieve results.
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe and secure work environment; developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Manages cost center budget, having overall budget responsibility for the enterprise technology services cost center.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Your Qualifications

  • Preferred, but not required: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 10-15 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • 5 years working in a Healthcare Payer executive level role. Understanding of payer applications and technology ecosystems is required to be successful in the role.
  • Experience managing software and infrastructure engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing cloud computing environments and operating models as well as managing information security teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage/ oversee projects and multi-project programs.
  • Ability to successfully collaborate with cross-functional constituent teams across all levels of the organization from line staff to senior executives.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain positive relationships within SCAN business units and promote the collaboration and exchange of information between business units.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with technical and non-technical internal and external constituents.
  • Excellent problem solving/analytical skills, self-motivation and the ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Strategic planning and advanced leadership skills.
  • Ability to provide strategic guidance and counsel to clientele in the assessment and development of existing and/or proposed systems.
  • Knowledge of current trends and developments in information technology, in particular experience working with cloud-based technologies.
  • Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to direct department technical and administrative staff.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Organizational planning and development skills.
