Role Overview:
Title: Vice President of Strategic Partnerships
Location: U.S. East Coast
Symphony seeks a Vice President of Business Development to take full ownership of and expand our key strategic partnerships. These include top-tier management consulting firms, Big 4 accounting organizations, private equity firms, leading big tech companies, and global enterprise organizations, all collaborating with Fortune 500 companies worldwide.
These bespoke partnerships are Symphony’s fastest-growing sales channel and revenue driver and will be crucial in doubling our business over the next two years. The partnerships range from multi-year established relationships to new ones with signed MSAs and vast opportunities ahead.
The successful candidate will be responsible for setting the strategic direction, managing P&L, and achieving growth targets for these partnerships. This role requires managing and developing senior stakeholder relationships, creating and implementing business development strategies, and identifying opportunities for joint projects.
The Vice President of Strategic Partnerships will collaborate with other members of Symphony's business development team, including peers focused on top of the funnel business development efforts, as well as conversion team members with expertise in product, design, and engineering. The Vice President of Strategic Partnerships will collaborate with other members of Symphony's business development team, including leaders in Top of Funnel initiatives, as well as Middle of the Funnel conversion team members such as product, design, and engineering leaders, alongside marketing team members.
This role is focused on business development, emphasizing building and expanding partnerships rather than delivery execution. The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial mindset and be excited about taking our partnership model to the next level in a fast-growing software design and development company.
Our Ideal Candidate:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and energetic individual who excels at building, expanding, and maintaining relationships.
Ideally, you have spent a significant part of your career in management consulting, with experience at one of the top three consultancies, and have a strong network of stakeholders. You should be passionate about the sales cycle, with a focus on top-of-the-funnel activities, and have prior experience in digital sales, SaaS sales, or product sales, preferably having been involved in the early stages of these sales processes.
This role is perfect for someone who thrives on building relationships and expanding networks through events and conferences. You will be pivotal in driving partnerships and growing Symphony in the US, particularly on the East Coast, by engaging with potential partners and clients in key locations like New York, New Jersey, Atlanta, and Boston.
Key Responsibilities:
New business development:
○ Identify and pursue new business opportunities, focusing on expanding partnerships and revenue growth in the U.S. market, particularly in cities such as Atlanta, New York, New Jersey, and Boston.
○ Develop and execute a strategic plan to drive business growth
Relationship building and management:
○ Build and maintain strong relationships with senior leaders at top-tier three consulting firms, Big 4 accounting organizations, private equity firms, big tech companies, and enterprise organizations,
○ Act as a trusted advisor, understanding client needs and identifying opportunities for collaboration and joint projects
Partnership expansion:
○ Own and develop key strategic partnerships, ensuring alignment with business goals and maximizing mutual benefits
○ Foster existing partnerships and cultivate new ones, focusing on long-term growth and success
Strategic planning and P&L Management:
○ Lead the strategic planning process for partnerships, including managing P&L to achieve growth targets
○ Make strategic decisions regarding investments, team hiring, and pricing to support partnership expansion
Go-to-market strategy development:
○ Develop and implement a collaborative go-to-market strategy with partners to enhance market presence and drive growth
○ Identify and define additional value-added services and innovative solutions to strengthen the partnership
Internal team leadership and development:
○ Collaborate with and help grow Symphony’s internal business development team, including product strategists, designers, solution architects, marketing, and sales enablement
○ Ensure the team is aligned with partnership objectives and equipped to deliver on growth targets
Value proposition and service evolution:
○ Evolve Symphony’s value proposition to meet the changing needs of partners and clients
○ Identify areas where Symphony can add the most value and tailor offerings to meet these needs effectively
Market and content strategy:
○ Collaborate with marketing to develop relevant content and communication strategies to support partnership goals
○ Create content that resonates with partners and potential clients, enhancing Symphony’s market presence
Cross-functional collaboration:
○ Work closely with cross-functional teams, including delivery, recruiting, and resourcing, to ensure alignment with partnership needs and opportunities
○ Lead partnership-focused meetings and collaborate on potential growth opportunities
Blueprint for partnership-led growth:
○ Set the framework for partnership-led growth, establishing best practices and strategies for long-term success
○ Define and implement a new partnership-led growth model for Symphony, positioning the company for continued success
Requirements:
Educational background: MBA or equivalent work experience is required
Consulting experience: Minimum of three years of experience at a leading consulting firm, including digital transformation work, ideally with one of our three top-tier consulting firms
Business growth leadership: Proven track record of growing a business within a high-growth tech or tech-enabled services company at a leadership level
Industry Expertise (desired): Specialized knowledge and prior experience in a key industry like Financial Services and Insurance, Retail and Consumer Goods, or Tech Media and Telecom, among others, to enhance our value proposition and drive growth
Relationship-building skills: Exceptional proficiency in networking, actively engaging in conferences and industry events to forge connections. Exhibits enthusiasm for cultivating and sustaining relationships with senior leadership across leading consulting firms, Private Equity Firms, Top Tech companies, and Fortune 500 corporations.
Entrepreneurial mindset: High energy, with a can-do attitude and a passion for innovation and achieving results
Digital trends expertise: Strong understanding of digital trends and standards, especially within large enterprises
Stakeholder influence: Demonstrated ability to communicate, present, and influence key stakeholders at all levels, including executive and C-level
Strategic and analytical skills: Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and analytical capabilities
