Scope/Contacts
This position reports directly to the EVP of Commercial Banking and works with the Corporate Lending Team and Credit Administration Team to maintain high quality credit and risk management for the Middle Market Portfolio. This position requires a high expertise of loan structuring, closing, monitoring, and workout to ensure the middle market portfolio of FFIN is maintained with the highest level of oversight. Primary function is the origination support and ongoing risk management of higher exposure loan relationships in order to help identify potential loan problems and identify opportunities to expand the portfolio within the credit appetite of the Bank. This position would also work with the Head of Commercial Banking to train high-performing credit analysts to build future middle market lenders within the organization.
Essential Functions
Portfolio Management
Work directly with commercial lenders in every market of FFIN on certain credits requiring advanced expertise and monitoring
Oversight of Financial Reporting and Covenant Tracking on larger and more complex credit relationships
Analyzing financials on existing relationships and preparing update loan file memos and approval memos
Report regularly on status of pipeline/capacity with middle market lending team
Directly manage certain credits as directed by EVP of Commercial Banking
Work closely with Credit Administrators and Chief Lending Officer to ensure oversight and portfolio maintenance adheres with FFB credit policy and risk appetite
Pre-Funding Review
On credits over $2,000,000, provide pre-funding reviews to include the following:
Review of Closing Documents to ensure alignment with approved terms by loan committee
Review of Loan Agreement to ensure all necessary covenants and other requirements are clearly and correctly defined
Review of Perfection documents to ensure a proper lien will be obtained prior to disbursing funds to the Borrower
Work with Lenders to correct any issues prior to loan closings
Report regularly to EVP of Commercial Banking and Chief Lending Officer on noticeable trends and continued errors from Lenders
Other Tasks
Assist with any audits/risk reviews, including coordinate responses, monitor action steps for remediation, etc.
Provide sales & customer service support as necessary, be available for joint calling efforts with the team and senior management
Oversee and train junior portfolio managers as necessary to build and grow future middle market lenders for the Company
Minimum Qualifications
Four Year Bachelor’s degree with a minimum level of accounting background
Minimum five years’ experience working in portfolio management or similar position
Formally Credit Trained and demonstrates experience and judgment with credit decisions and analysis
Demonstrated experience, knowledge and judgment with structure, credit decisions and analysis
Able to grasp and understand C&I, C&D, and CRE concepts and structures
Able to coach and mentor junior bankers on credit skills
Able to prepare comprehensive, cohesive, detailed written analysis and narrative
