The Vice President of Lending is a direct report to the President/CEO and is responsible for all facets of lending within the Credit Union. The VP of Lending is a member of the Senior Management Team, Loan Management Committee, and the ALM Committee.


This position sets service standards for all lending personnel and support positions within the Loan Department/Visa Department and is responsible for the daily operation and coordination of the lending procedures supervising policies established by the Board of Directors.


This position is a vital component in ensuring the success of the credit union’s strategic goals by working closely with other members of the Senior Management Team, Branch Managers, and all lending staff to produce quality loans and successful lending campaigns while following all laws and regulations pertaining to lending.


Responsibilities:


  • Attend monthly Board Meetings and keep the Board informed of all lending activities as it relates to the Strategic Architecture. 
  • Prepare all necessary monthly reports for the President/CEO and the Board of Directors.
  • Monitor Federal and State lending policies and procedures.
  • Maintain awareness of current lending trends while keeping familiar with the laws and regulations regarding lending. Review and update current policies on a regular basis.
  • Attend conferences and seminars, when warranted, as it pertains to regulations and lending topics.
  • Possess knowledge of new products, rates, and programs of competitors in the industry.
  • Ensure that all credit union loan staff is adequately trained to effectively carry out the lending and cross-selling processes.
  • Ensure that all staff within the department is familiar and complies with laws and regulations regarding all things lending.
  • Conduct regular departmental meetings as well as meet individually with staff to review expectations and strategic goals.
  • Conduct regular performance appraisals. 
  • Prepare and update job descriptions for department staff.
  • Manage all lending functions at all branch offices.
  • Attend management meetings and planning sessions set forth on the calendar.
  • Recommend pricing and procedural changes for continued growth; look for creative ways to promote our products.
  • Maintain and review quality/dual control procedures for the accurate reporting of all loans.
  • Prepare monthly report (GAP, MBI,VSI, Debt Protection and Depreciation Protection).
  • Prepare and post adjustable rate loans scheduled monthly, quarterly, annually.
  • Track and report monthly incentives.



Qualifications:


Bachelor Degree preferred with major in Business Management, Finance or other related field, or 2 year degree in Business Management, Finance or other related field, plus 5 years of work experience in the financial industry coupled with 5 years in Loan Management.
