ROLE OVERVIEW:

Our Finance team is growing, and we are looking for an experienced VP of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A). The successful VP of FP&A candidate will bring insightful analysis, process, reporting, metrics, and disciplined control to drive continuous margin improvement/operational leverage. In addition, the VP will be responsible for core finance responsibilities, including providing leadership and directing the development of financial policies, budgeting, reporting, operation standards and systems that meet the highest standards for providing financial information to enable strategic and operational financial analysis for decision making. Ability and willingness to be a player-coach, the VP of Finance will delegate and review work, but will also be hands-on in his/her responsibilities. Reports to the CFO.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish FP&A as a center of analytical excellence to be shared with functional leaders across the organization.
  • Directs the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team.
  • Establishes short and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
  • Directs FP&A team and work through that team with department heads to develop 10-year strategic and Annual Operating business plans.
  • Analyzes the financial implications of proposed new products, initiatives, and capital expenditures including profitability analysis and analysis evaluation of the financial aspect of go to market and investment strategies including racking and stacking opportunities based on financial returns.
  • Directs managerial finance including variance analysis, analysis of manufacturing costs P&L, balance sheet and net working capital modeling.
  • Directs and reviews the preparation and delivery of insightful, accurate and timely financial reporting per internal and external customer needs.
  • Directs and executes hands-on forecasting and financial modeling.
  • Direct expense management and controls as it relates to investment activities including but not limited to capital expenditures, marketing programs, mergers and acquisitions and other investment activities.
  • Coordinates with CFO and leads modeling for competitive analyses and any related merger or acquisition activities.
  • Maintain an organizational structure, as necessary, to effectively accomplish the departments goals and objective.
  • Manage, develop, train and recruit staff to ensure capabilities and succession in the ongoing support of department goals and objectives and to ensure corporate values and ethics are instilled to develop the future leaders for the division.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Recommend policies and standard operating procedures to drive change while securing adequate level of control and adequate returns.
  • Coordinate with IT department to ensure company objectives are met.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or directly related field is required. MBA preferred and/or CPA.
  • Must possess excellent analytical, financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and presentation skills with the ability to analyze raw data, draw conclusions, and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Working knowledge of short/long term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and product-line profitability analysis.
  • Sound technical accounting skills and GAAP proficiency.
  • Results-oriented, demonstrated strategic leader with a broad knowledge of management practices and good business analysis/project management skills.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
  • A collaborative leader who interacts well with internal and external stakeholders.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 12+ years of experience in accounting and finance at a leadership role is required.
  • Experience leading the FP&A function within an organization.
  • 8+ years of leadership experience with demonstrated people development skills and managing high-performance teams is required.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with senior management, communicate effectively in meetings and describe deliverables and project milestones.
  • Experience producing insightful, actionable analysis for senior management, board members, investors, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience working with companies with annual revenue of $500k- $1Bill required. Fortune500 experience is a nice-to-have.
  • Experience with capital structure is required, Private Equity & debt.
  • Experience in Consumer Products/CPG required. Experience in Food & Beverage production or Manufacturing is nice-to-have. Experience in Dairy is highly preferred.
