Overview

Holcim Building Envelope is looking for a Vice President of Research and Development of the Elevate Product Division. The Vice President will be at the forefront of steering our innovation strategy

and leading our product development initiatives. They will have strong knowledge of commercial environment and driving innovation solutions into the marketplace for profitable growth in the business.

This role involves implementing policies and strategies for immediate results and influencing others beyond one’s immediate job area regarding policies, practices, and procedures. We are seeking a

visionary leader who is passionate about sustainability, has a proven track record of transformative product innovation within the building materials industry, and can lead a team to deliver exceptional results.

This position is based in our premier laboratory location, Fishers Indiana.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute an innovation strategy aligned with the company’s vision, market trends, and sustainability goals
  • Implement policy and strategy for short-term results while influencing others outside of own job area regarding policies, practices, and procedures
  • Influence, coach, and develop direct reports to foster a culture of innovation and collaboration
  • Manage the team to apply research principles effectively, delivering on customer technical/functional specifications, budget adherence, and continuous improvement of processes
  • Work closely with commercial and product management teams to effectively understand market changing innovations.
  • Work with various cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of innovations into the market
  • Work closely with the procurement team to ensure a strong strategic raw material sourcing environment
  • Work closely with all manufacturing groups to ensure stable and technologically supported manufacturing centers of excellence
  • Oversee the research and development process from ideation to commercialization, ensuring projects are on schedule, within budget, and meet quality and efficiency standards
  • Create and manage institutional knowledge within the team and company
  • Research potential new technologies, products, and test method development, developing theories on the materials’ properties under various conditions
  • Devise research methods, prepare technical specifications, and specify laboratory test equipment and processes
  • Make recommendations concerning the acquisition and use of new technological equipment and materials
  • Lead intellectual property evaluations and the development of patent applications
  • Coordinate pilot-plant or initial production runs on new products or processes
  • Support relationships through strong communication and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders
  • Perform other duties as assigned and contribute to the overall success of the division and company.

Qualifications

Educational Background

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field
  • Master’s Preferred.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in product development or R&D within the building materials industry
  • Demonstrated ability to lead innovation and product development teams successfully
  • In-depth knowledge of sustainable building practices and materials
  • Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to inspire, engage, and manage a diverse team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Business development experience preferred
