Overview

This is a "remote" role that may only be hired in the following locations: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Massachusetts.

The VP, Sr First Line Risk Manager (1LOD)- Commercial Finance is responsible for management of Business Unit (BU) risk activities, in adherence with the Company's Risk Appetite and Corporate Strategy. The position ensures team serves as an effective communication channel between the Risk Management Department and FCB business units. Participates in strategy discussions and provides input to promote an environment of risk awareness and risk ownership across the organization. Builds and develops collaborative partnerships with senior management across lines of business, internal departments, Risk Management program leaders, peer First Line Risk Managers, and other stakeholders to enhance BU risk management capabilities. Manages the recruitment, training, and development process for staff. This position serves as a subject matter expert and may provide guidance to other department associates as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Participating in and overseeing BU key risk management activities and executing applicable risk monitoring, reporting, and governance responsibilities. This includes tracking and reporting on key risk indicators and limits.
  • Continually sharing risk-related information with the BU and provide training to the BU to embed a risk-aware culture and provide associates with the information needed to execute on risk management program requirements.
  • Being knowledgeable of risk techniques, practices, and control frameworks.
  • Assisting Regulatory Relations in the interaction with the Bank’s regulators as it pertains to the BU
  • Act as subject matter expert in providing guidance and assistance to associates and senior management to ensure appropriate and effective collaboration between the BU and Risk Management departments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 6 years experience Commercial Banking OR High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in Commercial Banking

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree
  • Experience in 1st Line in Commercial Finance or Commercial Real Estate
  • Experience in Enterprise or Operational risk management within the financial services industry,
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Understanding the various risk disciplines, particularly of credit, operational, compliance, strategic and reputational risks
  • Proactive and effective challenge attitude with comfort and confidence in interaction with all levels of management
  • Ability to manage junior staff
  • Skill(s): PC Skills including Microsoft Visio, Excel, and PowerPoint , Knowledge of regulatory guidance pertaining to enterprise risk and operational risk
  • To be located in the following locations: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Massachusetts.

If hired in New York, the base pay for this position is generally between $130,000 and $165,000. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
