This role will be supporting RCA Records, home of such artists as Pink, Doja Cat, Justin Timberlake, H.E.R and Mark Ronson.

As the VP, Business and Legal Affairs of RCA Records, you will:

What you'll do:

  • Legal Counsel and Strategy: Provide expert legal advice and strategic guidance to senior label and Sony business affairs executives and label departments on a wide range of business matters, including artist contracts, intellectual property rights, licensing agreements, and corporate transactions.
  • Deal Negotiation and Drafting: Strong drafting skills required with experience in the negotiation and drafting of agreements with artists, brands, and other industry partners.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Staying on top of changes in relevant laws and regulations affecting the music industry.

Who you are:

  • Degree from a top accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the relevant bar.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in music entertainment law, with a major focus on the music industry and experience at a major record label.
  • Must understand the ins and outs of a record deal.
  • Proven track record of successfully negotiating and drafting complex deals with musical artists and other industry partners.
  • Strong understanding of intellectual property law, contract law, and music industry regulations affecting the music industry.
  • Excellent communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate legal issues.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Strong love of collaboration. Must be able to roll up your sleeves and pitch in.
  • Willingness to learn. Adaptability is key.
  • Executive presence is important.
  • Ability to keep a calm demeanor while handling multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

The anticipated annual base salary does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
