Job Overview

We're looking for an experienced and highly motivated Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor to join our Rehabilitation Services Administration. In this role, you'll provide vocational rehabilitation counseling and guidance to individuals with disabilities, helping them overcome barriers to employment and develop skills to enter, gain, or retain employment. This position offers a hybrid work environment.

Tiered Position Levels

Based on your qualifications, you'll be placed in one of the following tiers:

  • Entry Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor
  • Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a field related to rehabilitation counseling or similar, plus two years of experience working with individuals with disabilities
  • Intermediate Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor
  • Requirements: Master's degree in a field closely related to rehabilitation counseling (as defined by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification), plus one year of experience working with individuals with disabilities
  • Senior Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor
  • Requirements: Meets Intermediate requirements plus holds a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) certification

Salary Range: $48,510.17 to $55,440.52 annually, commensurate with education and qualifications

Location: This position may be available for remote work within the state (minimum 2 days per week in the office/hoteling).

Key Responsibilities

  • Introduce clients to the vocational rehabilitation program, including eligibility criteria and rights/responsibilities
  • Review medical and psychological information to identify employment needs, goals, and available resources
  • Provide vocational counseling, career exploration, and labor market guidance
  • Develop and modify Individualized Plans for Employment (IPE)
  • Manage cases, maintain regular contact with clients and service providers
  • Manage fiscal resources, including authorizing and reviewing service payments
  • Serve as a program liaison for specialized groups (Intermediate and Senior levels)
  • Provide guidance to Entry-level Counselors (Intermediate and Senior levels)
  • Manage complex cases and potentially serve as backup to the Rehabilitation Supervisor (Senior level)

Qualifications And Skills

  • Knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to vocational rehabilitation services
  • Case management experience
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities
  • Broad understanding of physical, mental, and cognitive disabilities
  • Familiarity with referral and community resources
  • Knowledge of occupational opportunities and labor market trends
  • Strong motivation and communication skills
  • Excellent time management and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency with computer technology and assistive devices
