Responsibilities
Develop and maintain up-to-date syllabi for both theoretical and practical nursing courses, ensuring alignment with program objectives and industry standards.
Deliver high-quality lectures, utilize instructional resources effectively, and establish clear expectations for students.
Provide hands-on instruction and demonstrations of nursing practices and patient care based on current references and guidelines.
Assist students in understanding protocols, procedures, and policies, offering constructive feedback as needed.
Maintain regular office hours to support students with assignments, course progression, and other academic needs.
Demonstrate respect and empathy for students' diverse backgrounds and educational needs.
Keep accurate academic and attendance records, submit grades promptly, and report student academic issues to the appropriate college personnel.
Adhere to institutional policies, uphold professional codes of conduct, and maintain confidentiality and ethical standards.
Participate in team-based learning strategies, attend faculty meetings, and contribute to a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
Engage in ongoing professional development activities, including completion of required courses and certifications, participation in research, and serving as a professional resource to the community.
Provide evidence of teaching effectiveness through faculty evaluations, student surveys, and course outcomes, ensuring student success on licensure exams.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Campus Director and Director of Nursing.
Education And Qualifications
Meet minimum qualifications set by regulatory agencies, including the California Board of Registered Nursing.
Possess a related degree at least equivalent to the level of courses taught, along with a minimum of four years of practical work experience in the relevant field.
Maintain current certifications and licenses required by regulatory agencies and fulfill continuing education requirements.
Strong technical skills, including proficiency in computer applications, internet research, database management, and analytical tools.
Experience with learning management systems (LMS) such as Canvas preferred.
Experience in online, hybrid, remote, or blended teaching environments is highly desirable.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods.
Capability to independently move objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
Dexterity in hands, arms, and fingers to operate office equipment and perform necessary tasks.
Adequate hearing and speaking ability to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, or via computer.
