The William G. Lowrie Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (https://cbe.osu.edu/) at The Ohio State University invites applications for a visiting, non-tenure-track faculty appointment.

Position Overview

We invite applications for a non-tenure track, visiting professor position to start October 2024. We are seeking a Visiting Professor to join the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, focusing on membrane research. This role involves contributing to cutting-edge research projects and tasks, including:

  • Bio-syngas purification
  • Carbon dioxide capture
  • Olefin/paraffin separation
  • Membrane synthesis and characterization
  • Nanoporous polymer support synthesis and characterization
  • Spiral-wound membrane element fabrication

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Develop and contribute to innovative research projects
  • Investigate new phenomena and set research priorities
  • Participate actively in research discussions and collaborative efforts
  • Conduct comprehensive data analysis and literature reviews
  • Prepare and disseminate research findings through various publications
  • Perform other tasks as assigned to support the research team

This is an exciting opportunity for a mid-career scholar with an international reputation to make a significant impact in the field of membrane research.

Performance Objectives

Conduct membrane research in Chemical Engineering, including bio-syngas purification, carbon dioxide capture, olefin/paraffin separation, membrane synthesis and characterization, nanoporous polymer support synthesis and characterization, and spiral-wound membrane element fabrication. Undertake responsibilities including developing and contributing to research projects, investigating new phenomena, setting research priorities, participating in research discussions, and conducting data analysis and literature reviews. Prepare research findings for publication in various formats such as reports, papers, journals, and books, and perform additional assigned duties.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering
  • 20 Years of prior research experience on membrane separations, particularly for carbon dioxide separations vs. nitrogen and hydrogen

  • Experience as a full Professor position at an internationally reputed university

The William G. Lowrie Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (CBE) is home to 30 faculty working in diverse research areas including bioengineering, reaction engineering and catalysis, separations, systems engineering, particulates and multiphase flows, colloids, molecular simulation, polymers, nanomaterials, and sustainability. We are housed in a state-of-the-art 225,000 ft2 building dedicated to Chemical Engineering and the Chemical Sciences. CBE offers undergraduate (B.S.) and graduate (M.S. and Ph.D.) programs, with total enrollment exceeding 1000 students. CBE faculty are highly regarded for their teaching, research and extension and outreach programs.
