Position Overview
As a Virtual School Counselor, you will play a crucial role in supporting student success by collaborating with staff and families to tailor academic programs, develop graduation and career plans, and offer proactive counseling services. While this position primarily involves online work, occasional travel and in-person attendance are required for state testing and student events.
This is a part-time position.
Responsibilities
Deliver proactive guidance curriculum to individuals and groups.
Provide responsive counseling and programming to meet individual and group needs.
Review transfer student transcripts and assist in appropriate course placements.
Maintain and review transcripts for active students, ensuring accurate credit award procedures.
Develop and maintain student graduation plans.
Offer career readiness curriculum and facilitate the creation of career plans.
Create and maintain Student 504 plans.
Analyze student data to provide insights into suitable academic programs and interventions.
Travel to support testing efforts and school events within the state as necessary.
Qualifications
Valid State School Counselor license.
Bachelor's degree plus at least one year of previous experience in counseling and/or advisement, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Familiarity with the ASCA model.
Experience with K-12 online learning.
Knowledge of Local, State, and Federal laws and mandated reporting.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite Products.
Ability to handle confidential information responsibly and exercise sound judgment while maintaining confidentiality.
Capacity to manage difficult or emotional situations and make evidence-based decisions.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work well under pressure, effectively prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines consistently.
Customer service orientation.
Ability to work independently and contribute to a team.
Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks.
Valid driver's license and willingness to perform occasional local and in-state travel.
