Overview
The Violent Crime Analyst position at the Vermont Intelligence Center is responsible for research, criminal case support (timelines, link charts, phone tolls, situational awareness bulletins), information collection, analysis, and authoring intelligence products on criminal activity topics. The Analyst may also be required to present their findings to law enforcement and other local, state, and federal stakeholders.
This position will have significant pressure from deadlines while dealing with a high volume of requests from various stakeholders with the expectation results are achieved in a timely and accurate manner. Additionally, this position will be exposed to material which is violent, hateful and negative. Duties are performed largely in an office environment, but the person will be required to drive to various locations around the state. Work outside normal business hours will be required.

PUBLIC SAFETY BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position to include Motor Vehicle/Criminal Records, Personal History, Credit and any additional background check(s).
Environmental Factors
Significant pressure from deadlines is present due to the high volume of requests from various stakeholders with the expectations results are achieved. Additionally, the employee will be exposed to material which is hateful and negative. Duties are performed largely in an office environment, but the person will be required to drive to various locations around the state. Work outside normal business hours will be required.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree or higher in criminal justice, data analysis, public administration, or related field.
OR
Three (3) years or more of experience in law enforcement, records case management, public safety systems or public safety research.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate degree or higher in criminal justice, data analysis, public administration or related field.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint
Proficiency in ARCGIS (ESRI) platform
Proficiency with Analytical Software
Special Requirements
Must pass a department conducted background check.
Must pass a federal secret clearance to retain employment. This may take longer than the normal (6) month probationary period, but employment in this position may be terminated for failure to attain a secret clearance.
