Position Summary

A Video Editor for National University is responsile for creating compelling visual arts that drive prospective student enrollment at National University. Working with designers and copywriters, the Video Editor will work creatively and collaboratively, adhering to market standards and competing for higher education market share advertising. All efforts within this role are concentrated toward the goal of increased enrollment and graduation success of our students. Under limited supervision, the Video Editor will use the latest technology to create compelling videos, assembled from both cinematic and UGC formats of recording for broadcast commercials, streaming television, YouTube, paid social media, and organic social media platforms. The Video Editor is responsible for sorting through footage, building out storylines, defining characters, drawing out emotion, and following all current trends and standards of color grading and sound design. The Video Editor is expected to maintain a tidy file management system to aid a shared project workflow and prepare hard drives when necessary. This is a remote position, with occasional on-site video production. This position reports to the Associate Creative Director of Video.

Essential Functions:

  • Manages high volume workflow, involving multiple projects delivered with hard deadlines.
  • Uses lighting, lens choice, composition, and camera movement to master visual motivation. When applicable, can operate and sustain all equipment, including camera, software, lighting, and audio.
  • Creates deliverables, manages workload, and provides daily status reports on current projects.
  • Trouble-shoot software issues as needed to ensure on-time delivery of assets according to schedule.
  • Identifies correct format, ratio, and compression needs specific to project placement such as web, broadcast, and channel.
  • Participate in a team setting as well as all project meetings, especially being available during normal working hours.

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • 5-7 years of professional video editing experience required. Please provide a URL to your work.
  • Associates or Bachelors Degree in a creative field is a plus but not required.
  • Certification in editing software or video training, a plus.
  • Animation and graphic design are highly desirable.
  • Technical proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Adoe Premiere and After Effects required.

  • Ability to create and produce graphic materials using a range of media, methods and techniques and equipment.
  • Advanced use of computers and Microsoft Office Suite Applications such as Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and advanced knowledge of software programs for the design and production of videos e.g. Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Davinci Resolve.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individual of constituencies in a diverse community. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Aptitude to communicate media technology information and limitations to non-technical staff.
  • Proficiency in shooting, lighting and audio for commercial (non-newscast) productions, required; familiarity with editing systems and post-production facilities, including NLE editing software capability; studio and field production; livestream and new technology trends; audio and sound recording at a professional level.
  • Work independently and foster a cooperative spirit within a large and/or small team of diverse cultures, while working in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and frequently changing priorities.


Travel: Travel seldom required

Candidate receiving offers will be offered a salary/pay rate commensurate with experience that vary based on a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and competencies. Absent exceptional circumstances, candidates will be offered a salary within this range for this position. The minimum salary will be offered based on the minimum exemption threshold based on state of residency. Compensation Range:

Annual Salary: $55,000.00 - $84,480.00
