Location: Texas strongly preferred, remote candidates with exceptional tax equity experience considered.


Sector: Renewable Energy (Solar, Storage, Wind)


Compensation: $200k - $300k cash + EQUITY


PLEASE NOTE: You must have extensive tax equity structuring and underwriting transaction experience to be considered for this role.

Our client is an emerging start-up in the renewable energy space. Well-funded and building an investment team focused on accelerating the energy transition market (wind, solar, storage) by deploying capital into clean energy projects across the US.


Job Description

As a Vice President, you will play a crucial role in driving investment strategies and execution from origination to close for North America, focusing on renewables, energy storage, and the energy transition sector.


You will be responsible for formulating and implementing investment strategies, analyzing investment opportunities, providing key insights into the economic impact of infrastructure investments, developing investment theses across renewables markets and emerging technologies, and forecasting financial performance of prospective investments.


You will be a significant decision-maker in the due diligence process, managing third-party advisors, reviewing proprietary financial models, arranging debt financing, and supporting negotiation of commercial and legal contracts. Additionally, you will work closely with associates, guiding and developing the team as they support the investment process.


Responsibilities

- Actively oversee and provide strategic direction for new investments, with a special emphasis on tax equity considerations, ranging from market assessment to competitive positioning, to initial underwriting and deal structuring.

- Lead due diligence on active deals, including power markets diligence, risk underwriting, and managing external advisors, focusing on tax equity implications.

- Collaborate with the team on building robust, flexible financial models that intricately incorporate tax equity nuances to support deal underwriting and structuring efforts.

- Provide leadership and guidance for transaction negotiations, often leading such negotiations with a focus on tax equity requirements.

- Offer strategic oversight and hands-on support for investments following acquisition, with a strong understanding of tax equity deployment.


Qualifications

- Minimum of 10 years of experience in investment banking or principal investing with a strong track record of success, specifically in tax equity structuring, underwriting, and deployment.

- Established relationships in the renewables development market to source opportunities, with a deep understanding of tax equity considerations.

- Solid background in finance and economics with a proven ability to underwrite power markets, factoring in tax equity implications.

- Highly analytical with advanced financial modeling and accounting skills, particularly in the context of tax equity.

- Exceptional communication and people skills, with the ability to receive and deliver feedback effectively.

- Highly entrepreneurial, passionate about knowledge, driven for excellence, business-savvy, creative, and possesses high integrity.
