Vice President, Strategic Planning and Execution, PMO

Overview

The Vice President of Strategic Planning and Execution within the PMO is a senior leader under the Amtrust COO's domain. This individual oversees a team of project managers, scrum masters, and process engineers, aiming to enhance project delivery quality across IT, Operations, and Business units within AmTrust. Reporting to the Head of Strategic Planning and Execution, the Vice President will collaborate with both business and IT leaders to propel the PMO's efficiency and effectiveness. A significant part of this role involves developing project planning and lifecycle processes for large programs, and governance across the enterprise. The leader will also be responsible for staff development of the PMP team, and nurturing a project management community of practice.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine IT and project management processes
  • Lead the global establishment of project management roles
  • Collaborate with various teams (Business Partner teams, IT Procurement, IT Finance, etc.) to optimize PMO operational processes
  • Implement standard project and program management methodologies to enhance project success rates
  • Advance the lean agile transformation within AmTrust including process and role redesigns, as needed
  • Manage demand and capacity, ensuring alignment with strategic needs and organizational demands
  • Promote continuous improvement within the Project Management team
  • Define and uphold methodologies and standards to ensure project success and alignment with organizational goals
  • Enhance PMO tools for scheduling, resource management, financial tracking, and other key operational areas
  • Manage the recruitment and training of project managers
  • Stay updated on market trends and demands
  • Work with strategic business counterparts to align objectives, resolve conflicts, and manage priorities
  • Cultivate effective project teams and foster a positive work environment
  • Provide mentoring and development opportunities for Program and Project Managers

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA or equivalent graduate degree preferred
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and leadership skills
  • Experienced in managing large, dispersed teams, including matrixed environments
  • Proficient in managing multiple high-priority projects and cross-functional teams
  • Skilled in translating business objectives into actionable plans
  • Strong negotiation, relationship management, and influence skills
  • Effective in a matrix organization and adaptable to workload fluctuations
  • Proven track record in implementing and driving change
  • Change leadership and agile methodology experience considered a plus
