About The Role
Reporting to the Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) of Small Commercial, the Vice President of Renewal Underwriting will lead our Small Commercial lines team. This pivotal role involves directing the execution of our underwriting business strategy, shaping the direction of the Small Commercial book of business, and collaborating closely with the leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze industry and market trends to optimize profitability and identify unique exposures.
Provide direct oversight to Small Commercial underwriting teams.
Develop and maintain effective workflows and tools in collaboration with Operations leadership.
Ensure alignment on strategic messaging related to appetite, pricing, and new business processes.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to implement product/service solutions, underwriting guidance, and training materials.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and talent development within the underwriting team.
Monitor market conditions to adjust strategies and ensure profitable growth.
Partner with external vendors to enhance product/service offerings as needed.
Serve as a primary contact for regional leadership regarding segment issues.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree required; CPCU and/or MBA preferred.
10+ years of experience in property and casualty underwriting.
Strong leadership skills with experience in leading teams and projects.
Deep understanding of underwriting principles, market dynamics, and profitability levers.
Proven ability to build effective partnerships across various stakeholders.
Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.
