THE ROLE

The Vice President, Business Development (VP BD) will play a key role as part of a high-impact team in the continued expansion of HPA. The VP BD will lead, shape, and manage the business development strategy and operations to actively impact sustainable revenue growth and expanded market presence. The individual will lead a team to collaborate with and support HPA Partners through go-to-market strategies, generating leads for the business, cultivating client relationships through insights, and winning project opportunities. Through a combination of strategic vision, team leadership, and execution, the VP BD will be a key leader in the continued success and growth of HPA.  


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful individual will be an ambitious, energetic, and charismatic leader whose responsibilities include, but are limited to:

  • Strategic Leadership
  • Strategic Objectives – Develop and execute go-to-market and business development strategies in alignment with overall organization objectives for sustainable growth. Monitor macro and industry-specific trends to identify opportunities for business expansion and client acquisition. Shape market positioning to adapt across market cycles, client demand, and competitive landscape.  
  • Planning and Execution – Develop and effectively execute plans to achieve objectives. Identify potential risks or obstacles to team success and implement strategies to mitigate them proactively.  
  • Internal Collaboration – Proactively liaise with HPA Partners and cross-functional leadership on day-to-day basis to enable the delivery of strategic objectives.   
  • Business Development
  • Business Development – Spearhead existing and new business development initiatives to enable HPA’s growth. Shape and evolve lead generation and cultivation strategy and oversee execution against strategy and related metrics to support HPA Partner engagement with prospective clients. Identify opportunities for maintaining and expanding existing client relationships.   
  • Proposal Development – Lead team to deliver actionable prospective client insights to HPA Partners, prepare presentations and other marketing assets. Collaborate with client development lead to support on client-specific strategy and proposal development.  
  • Marketing & Content – Leverage marketing team to utilize marketing and content strategy to enable business development opportunities.  
  • Team Leadership
  • Team Leadership – Manage and mentor high-performing business development team, providing guidance, support, and resource allocation for the execution of strategic objectives and client deliverables. Lead by example, demonstrating leadership qualities such as integrity, ownership, and effective communication. 
  • Development – Recruit, train, and develop business development team, including involvement in annual hiring, onboarding and training of new Associate classes, as well ongoing mentorship, coaching, and professional development.  
  • Business Development Operations
  • Reporting & Analytics – Evaluate internal and external datasets to identify trends, opportunities, and pipeline management to support key decision making. Leverage team to continuously evaluate and refine data and reporting approaches to ensure relevance and accuracy in driving business development initiatives.  
  • Operational Effectiveness & Scalability – Champion and oversee execution of strategic initiatives that improve business development operations and unlock new avenues for scalability as needed to support double digit growth.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Undergraduate degree from leading 4-year institution, MBA preferable.
  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Prior experience in professional services preferred, or other B2B services a plus.  
  • Ideal combination of top tier firm experience, combined with entrepreneurial growth experience.  
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams of high-potential emerging professionals.


LOCATION AND TRAVEL

  • Based in the Los Angeles area (El Segundo), this position is hybrid (3 days/week on site, 2 days remote).
  • Less than 10% travel is expected for the role.
