As the Vice President of Operations at Responsive, you will play a key role in enhancing operational efficiency and aligning with the company's strategic goals. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will oversee Legal Operations, Operational Excellence, and Administration teams. Your leadership will ensure our operations are streamlined, cost-effective, and aligned with our mission and values.


Location: Hybrid from Portland OR, Dallas TX, Boston MA, SF Bay Area, Kansas City, MO

What you will do:

  • Strategic Oversight: Develop and scale Operational Excellence to support growth. Create a strategic vision for Legal Operations, including Contracts, Compliance, Procurement, and office administration, ensuring continuous process improvement.
  • Performance Monitoring and Improvement: Analyze operations to identify areas for improvement. Address efficiency issues proactively, driving operational excellence and implementing frameworks like OKRs.
  • Project and Initiative Management: Guide the direction of departmental projects to align with company goals. Use Lean and Six Sigma principles to improve process efficiency.
  • Legal Operations: Lead the legal team to ensure compliance with laws and regulations. Manage legal matters efficiently, including contract management, regulatory compliance, and risk assessment. Provide guidance on legal issues such as contract negotiations, intellectual property, and data privacy.
  • Facility Operations: Oversee global facility operations, focusing on cost reductions and vendor relationships.
  • Hands-On Execution: Blend strategic thinking with hands-on execution, driving impactful organizational initiatives.
  • Sustainable Growth: Demonstrate a deep understanding of scaling processes in a fast-paced organization, implementing sustainable growth strategies.

Who you are:

  • 5-10 years in a supervisory capacity within Operations or a related field, specifically in the SaaS industry.
  • Leadership: Proven leadership in the SaaS sector, with experience in project management and business process optimization.
  • Business Insight: Deep understanding of SaaS business dynamics.
  • Decision-Making: Exceptional decision-making skills, considering various factors and their impacts.
  • Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration across the organization.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
  • Lean Methodologies: Experience with Lean methodologies; Lean Six Sigma certification strongly preferred.
  • Team Management: Proven track record in managing multiple teams and projects, effectively scaling operations and systems.
  • Global Team Leadership: Experience leading and collaborating with diverse, global teams, including teams in India, the US, and other locations. Strong cross-cultural communication skills and the ability to navigate time zones and cultural nuances.
  • Startup Experience: Experience working with startup founders and scaling SaaS product companies.
  • Process Improvement: Documented success in process improvement initiatives and Lean implementations.
  • Certifications: Lean, Six Sigma certifications preferred.


Additional Information

The compensation range for this role is $180,000-$265,000 On-Target Earnings (base + bonuses), depending on experience and location.
