The Maslow Media Group is currently recruiting a full-time Vice President (VP) of Operations for our client, America’s largest and local broadcasting group comprised of top network affiliates, with 200 owned or partner stations. They are one of the world’s leading diversified media companies and proudly employs or manages over 12,400 people across the country.



Position is onsite in Chicago, IL or New York, NY with 50% travel required.

About the Opportunity:

  • Oversee all Operations and Engineering departments.
  • Manage network operations departments in New York, Chicago, and Washington DC, and coordinate operational efforts affecting various bureaus.
  • Responsible for operational efficiency to ensure budget targets are met, and day-to-day operations and projects are executed efficiently and on schedule.
  • Must be savvy with technology systems, highly skilled in financial acumen, data analysis, and driving metrics.
  • Will be expected to improve operating efficiency through collaboration with team members and executive leadership while ensuring tools and support are in place to meet objectives in the near and long term.
  • Must handle multiple priorities and address present concerns while monitoring future opportunities.



Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Manage and direct regional operations personnel on issues related to News Programming, live event broadcasts, including Production, acquisition, transmission, technical equipment, crewing, and new technology. Conduct weekly calls with the regional operations group, including crew supervisors. Individual follow up required regularly.
  • Work with Labor Relations on all union contracts. Manage input and interpretation of union CBA agreements alongside HR.
  • Work with leadership to develop long-term strategic planning.
  • Maintain and develop an overall operating and capital budget for operations and engineering department.
  • Manage relationships between Operations and other supporting leaders.
  • Maintain regional and national disaster recovery plans.
  • Assess current SOPs, manage by exception, and identify key opportunities for improvement; work closely with the executive leadership team to address potential strategic, tactical, and operating issues.
  • Manage and report on key operational processes, financial budgets, and performance indicators.
  • Work with regional operations directors and crewing managers to create consistent infrastructure and policies.
  • Work with IT/Finance/Human Resources and Labor Relations to communicate, advise, direct, and implement policies with regional production and operations personnel.
  • Search out, review, and recommend new technical procedures and technology related to broadcasting. Work with other national and regional field operations to share equipment and technical information.
  • Maintain quality control standards to ensure the current 24/5 operation as we grow to 24/7 operations.
  • Travel to remote production sites to review policies, procedures and to get on-site feedback.



Qualifications:

  • 7- 10 years in national or international network news or studio operations.
  • Overall understanding of television production/technical operations to multi-task and work under daily time constraints in a high-pressure environment is essential.
  • Prior experience in a director-level role or above.
  • Experience managing and developing both onsite and remote teams.
  • Strong operational and financial acumen, and measurable success in developing, implementing, and executing per plan and budget.
  • Bachelor's Degree in business, communications or related recommended.



Salary Range: $200k - $230k depending on experience, plus benefits.
