Vice President of Technology

The Vice President of Technology is the Chief Technology Officer of the College and has responsibility for administration of the following information technology activities: enterprise architecture, application development, data center operations, disaster recovery operations, system design, network design, capacity planning, system security, system integration, database management, telephone system, network management, customer service, technical support and help desk. Additionally, the Vice President of Technology will organize and implement a college-wide process improvement strategy.

Applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering Technology or a related field. Five years of experience in managing information technology. Experience in an institution of higher education. Experience with community colleges. Experience with networking software and deploying software and content over LANS, intranets, WANS, and the Internet. Knowledge of hardware and software for administrative computing, full featured telecommunications systems and state of the art telephone systems. Knowledge of large and complex network design, development and installation projects with multiple project teams. Capability to manage the technical design, planning and architecture for the enterprise network, oversee enterprise architecture strategic planning and monitor emerging network technologies to ensure a proactive approach to long-range objectives. Proven ability to conduct contract negotiations and vendor management for network service providers. Ability to implement a structure to manage an aggressive application development program and an ongoing content upgrade program. Excellent oral and written communications skills. Effective interpersonal skills and ability to relate to a diversified professional and student population.

This position covers health insurance at 100% for employee. Additional optional coverages include dental, vision, AD&D, life insurance, and long- and short-term disability. Other benefits include retirement under the Teacher Retirement System of Texas or Optional Retirement Program, accrued sick leave, vacation, paid holidays, and an employee reimbursement/dependent scholarship program. Health benefits require a 60-day employment period.
