Overview:

Pacifica Graduate Institute seeks a Vice President of Technology. Reporting directly to the President/CEO, the ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leveraging technology to enhance business operations in a higher education environment and improve student, faculty, and staff user experiences. This role requires a visionary, creative thinker with the ability to balance innovation, data-driven decision-making, and operational excellence.


Core Responsibilities

•        One of the primary functions of this role will be to continue the initiative of expanding the delivery of online learning, while maintaining Pacifica’s high standards of quality. This will involve driving the delivery of online learning content, assisting in garnering faculty buy-in, helping obtain the appropriate regulatory approvals and developing the needed technological infrastructure.

•        Oversees the technology departments (IT/IS/AV).

•        Represents the technology departments to upper management, department heads, faculty, and staff.

•        Develop and implement a comprehensive technology strategy that aligns with the overall business goals of Pacifica Graduate Institute. Stay abreast of new technological trends and adapt strategies to evaluate and implement new technologies.

•        Provide inspirational leadership and direction and ensure the continued development and management of a high performing team.

•        Create a collaborative and innovative work culture that fosters creativity and efficiency, including working with department heads to ensure technological needs throughout the company are met.

•        Ensure compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements, particularly in data protection and privacy.

•        Oversees development, implementation, and enforcement of the institution's information security program to safeguard against cyber threats and ensure data integrity.

•        Bring an entrepreneurial mindset to the role, exploring innovative strategies, taking calculated risks, and driving transformative change within the company. Leverage data analytics and insights to inform decision-making processes and operational effectiveness.

•        Oversees the development of the technology budget and manages costs to ensure budgetary compliance. Establish and maintain efficient and reliable technology operations, including systems infrastructure, network, data management and security protocols for high performance, uptime and data integrity.

•        Evaluate and implement necessary practices to maintain and/or advance technology in the physical campus space, including offices and classrooms, as well as for remote work and learning.

•        Develop and implement disaster recovery plans and business continuity strategies.

•        Stay current on the latest technological advancements to provide strategic insights and recommendations for maintaining our technological edge.

•        Representing the company at job-related conferences and networking events.

•        Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for software and technology services.

•        Promote digital literacy and accessibility across campus.

•        Develops policy regarding the use of technology and information security.

•        Other duties as assigned by the President/CEO.

Qualifications:

 

·        A master’s degree in computer science, information technology or a related field.

·        15+ years of experience as a technology officer or in a similar senior technology leadership role.

·        Experience in a higher education environment highly preferred, but not required.

·        Knowledge of Depth/Jungian Psychology preferred, but not required.

·        Demonstrated success in managing IT infrastructure, IT budgets, and systems architecture. Deep understanding of technology trends and best practices.

·        Extensive knowledge of infrastructure management, cybersecurity best practices, and software development methodologies.

·        Experience driving digital transformation initiatives and leveraging cloud technologies.

·        Strong strategic thinking and the ability to translate business objectives into effective technology strategies.

·        Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop high-performing technology teams.

·        Proven track record of successfully leading large-scale technology projects, delivering results on time and within budget.

·        Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to leverage data and insights for informed decision-making.

·        Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior executives.

·        Proven ability to navigate complex technology landscapes and align technology initiatives with business objectives.

·        A visionary thinker with a strategic mindset and the ability to execute plans that align with Pacifica's mission and values.

·        Experience with maintaining FERPA, GLBA, and PCI DSS compliance as it relates to IT and information systems.

·        Experience with student information systems, PowerCampus and Colleague preferred.

·        Experience with financial aid management systems, PowerFAIDS preferred.

·        Thorough knowledge and experience with managing and using the Office 365 tools and platform.

·        Thorough knowledge and experience with managing and using the Microsoft Azure platform.
