As a member of the Executive Team, the Vice President of Sales will be responsible for leading and managing the sales strategy across multiple channels including Retail, Wholesale, and Direct. This role will involve developing and executing sales plans to achieve company revenue targets, building strong customer relationships, and leading a dynamic sales team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the building materials industry and a proven track record of driving sales growth. This position does involve travel up to 25% of the time.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Sales Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive sales, go to market, and business development strategies for Retail, Wholesale, and Direct channels to achieve business objectives.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify growth opportunities and trends within the building materials industry.
  • Set and achieve sales targets, revenue goals, and profitability metrics.
  • Lead the continued expansion and development of the sales operations team to drive the efficiency and effectiveness of sales team performance.

2. Team Leadership and Development:

  • Provide overall department leadership development to a high-performing sales team.
  • Coach, develop, and provide leadership to all direct reports and sales team leaders.
  • Establish performance metrics and manage the team to achieve sales objectives.
  • Foster a collaborative and motivating environment for the sales team.
  • Analyze and determine organizational design for future inside sales function to further bolster revenue growth.

3. Customer Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and partners across all channels.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service and satisfaction.
  • Address and resolve customer issues and concerns promptly.
  • Collaborate and partner with the customer success team to ensure customers are serviced consistently and effectively.

4. Channel Management:

  • Oversee sales activities and performance across Retail, Wholesale, and Direct channels.
  • Develop channel-specific sales plans and promotional strategies.
  • Monitor and analyze channel performance to optimize sales efforts.

5. Financial Management:

  • Prepare and manage the sales budget, forecasts, and other necessary reports.
  • Ensure effective cost management and profitability.
  • Monitor sales expenditures and adjust strategies as needed.

6. Marketing Collaboration:

  • Collaborate and partner with the marketing team to develop and execute marketing campaigns, asset development, and promotional activities.
  • Work with marketing team leadership to prioritize resources and projects as needed to align sales initiatives with marketing strategies to maximize impact.

7. Reporting and Analysis:

  • Track and report on sales performance, market trends, and competitive activity.
  • Provide regular updates to the CEO and executive team.
  • Utilize data to make informed business decisions and adjustments to sales strategies.


Required Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of 10 years of sales experience in the building materials industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical, reporting, and sales forecasting skills.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience with big box consumer retail and/or professional building materials distribution preferred.
  • Proven ability to drive sales growth and achieve revenue targets.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Required Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field; MBA preferred.
