Vice President of Sales - Freight Forwarding Industry


Position Summary


We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of International Business Development to lead our Air & Ocean Freight Forwarding division. This pivotal role is responsible for driving business growth, developing strategic partnerships, and enhancing our market presence. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of international logistics, a strong sales acumen, and the ability to navigate complex global markets.


Key Responsibilities


Strategic Planning and Execution:


  • Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy for the Air & Ocean Freight division.
  • Identify new market opportunities and create plans to expand service offerings and market share.
  • Set and achieve revenue targets, ensuring alignment with the company’s overall strategic goals.


Sales and Business Development:


  • Lead and manage the business development team to drive sales growth and achieve financial targets.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key clients, partners, and industry stakeholders.
  • Conduct market research to stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes.


Client Management:


  • Oversee client acquisition and retention strategies to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Negotiate and close major contracts, ensuring favorable terms and conditions for the company.
  • Address and resolve complex customer issues and challenges promptly and effectively.


Operational Oversight:


  • Collaborate with operations, finance, and other departments to ensure seamless service delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of business development initiatives.
  • Implement continuous improvement processes to enhance service quality and operational performance.


Leadership and Team Development:


  • Provide strong leadership, mentorship, and support to the business development team.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and high performance.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, set objectives, and provide professional development opportunities for team members.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Business, Logistics, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in international business development within the freight forwarding industry, with a focus on air and ocean freight.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth in a global context.
  • Strong knowledge of international trade regulations, customs processes, and global logistics networks.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think strategically, analyze complex situations, and develop actionable solutions.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as needed.
