Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities

Aireon is currently seeking a Vice President of Sales to lead and manage the ANSP vertical market to bring and promote the entire Aireon’s product portfolio and services to this market. This role is responsible for all customer interactions in this global vertical market. The VP of Sales shall also be responsible for reviewing, adjusting, and defining the commercial strategy for his vertical and provide leadership and guidance across the company regarding the short/mid/long term actions required to be successful in the ANSP vertical.

The VP of Sales will be responsible for managing the global sales team in this market and will manage effective account management for the existing Aireon customers, whilst growing the business with existing and new customers.

This role will be responsible for meeting and exceeding revenue, backlog, and EBITDA targets and will determine the commercial strategy and resource planning to be successful in this market.

The VP of Sales must lead, mentor, and challenge a diverse global team of sales directors and managers, account managers, and consultants nurturing a culture of collaboration and peak performance. This position will be remote with regular presence at Aireon HQ to ensure alignment across multiple departments.

What You'll Do

The Aireon Vice President of Sales is the executive responsible for the commercial strategy and ANSP customer engagements to establish long-lasting relationships and contracts. To achieve this, they will organize the sales team to have regular face-to-face meetings and presence in the region and will develop and execute Aireon’s ANSP commercial strategy with the relevant global business partners.

The ideal candidate must have significant commercial experience, people management skills, very strong communication skills, a demonstrated track record of successfully meeting commercial targets the ability to define our strategic positioning in this market.

Aireon’s matrix management model requires the successful candidate to have the ability to lead and operate the Product Management group in a cross-cultural multi-discipline environment. The VP will be responsible to:

  • Provide strategic leadership to the sales team and the internal stakeholders
  • Provide input for product development and product improvement
  • Define the tactical and strategic approach for every sales campaign
  • Report the action plan for every sales campaign to the relevant internal stakeholders
  • Establish a strong partnership with the product management, marketing, and leadership of other commercial verticals.
  • Obtain, retain, and lead a team of highly skilled and motivated managers and employees.
  • Identify opportunities for product enhancements, based on user and customer feedback
  • Manage the existing customer portfolio to establish long-lasting commercial relationships
  • Develop and implement an integrated high-performance culture that consistently strives to set the standard across the company.
  • Effectively represent Aireon in customer meetings and industry engagements.
  • Monitor the competitive landscape and new technologies.

Required Qualifications

Experience & Education Requirements / EEO

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related commercial/business discipline.
  • Thorough understanding of the aviation ANSP industry and the operational needs and challenges
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience with a proven track record of success in commercial activities with the ANSP market.
  • People management: challenges employees to be extraordinary, embraces ambiguity and complexity, and utilizes coaching to grow and improve employee capabilities.
  • Ability and passion to drive a complex, high-tech organization.
  • Effectively communicate the expectation levels and vision of the organization in a way to motivates and encourages staff to achieve high performance and generate growth.

  • We conduct regular team meetings both virtual and in person
  • Team is geographically diverse with centralized team in Mclean, VA
