Vice President of Operations

Salary: 120K - 180K based on experience

Position Summary:

The Vice President of Operations will report directly to the owners, a husband-and-wife team, with the husband serving as the part-time CEO and the wife as the CFO. This role requires a seasoned professional with a strong background in warehouse and transportation operations, as well as sales and relationship management. The ideal candidate will have experience in medium-sized to large businesses and preferably in family-owned enterprises.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the daily operations of the company, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in all aspects of warehouse and transportation
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve company goals and objectives
  • Lead and mentor a team of roughly 40 employees and 40 contractors, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture
  • Drive sales growth through effective relationship management and business development strategies
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies
  • Collaborate closely with the CFO to manage financial performance, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Maintain and enhance the company's family-oriented culture

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Reporting and Analysis: Review regular reports and conduct data analysis to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and assess the financial and organizational effectiveness of warehouse operations. Use insights gained to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement
  • Employee Engagement: Partner with Human Resources, department managers, and employees to foster a positive work environment, promote open communication, and create initiatives that strengthen employee engagement and retention
  • Employee Development: Support employee development initiatives aimed at targeting succession planning and workforce optimization
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure a safe working environment for warehouse staff

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Transportation, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in warehouse and transportation operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
  • Proven track record in sales and relationship management, with the ability to drive revenue growth
  • Experience in a medium to large size business environment; family-owned business experience is a plus
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a family-oriented atmosphere
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • No relocation assistance is available for this position

Health Insurance and Dental Coverage:

  • Health insurance policy provided by Kaiser, includes dental insurance
  • Health insurance and other benefits available after 90 days of employment
  • Company contributes $229 per month towards the health insurance plan, which is age-banded

Retirement Plan:

  • 401(k) with 3% company contribution after 6 months

Profit Sharing:

  • Potential profit sharing of 5-7% of salary each year
