The Vice President of Information Technology at Tandy Leather is responsible for all aspects of systems, hardware, infrastructure, security, data management and more. Although we are a small company, we have the complexity of a much larger one. We are publicly traded, requiring adherence to GAAP, SOX and other standards. We also have 3 channels of distribution: retail, online and a wholesale business, and in-house warehouse and production facilities, each with different systems and business processes. Our small size means that all senior executives have broad roles, are hands on and work collaboratively to make collective decisions and take action – we don’t have a lot of bureaucratic corporate layers. The ideal candidate must be comfortable both thinking and doing – they must be able to think strategically like a complex public-company CIO, but also roll up their sleeves and get work done. Lastly, to be successful, this person must be able to deeply understand our business, how it works, what the drivers are, and translate that insight into IT solutions.
