The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated technology leader to join our team as the VP of Engineering. This pivotal role involves architecting and leading the development of our technology platform and driving the delivery of our technology roadmap in coordination with Product and Design leaders. The VP of Engineering will be responsible for the design, architecture, and execution of technology initiatives that will propel Charm.io to become a global leader in ecommerce data technology.
You will influence product direction through technical insight and own the technical roadmap for the product’s evolution. With your experience and judgment, you will guide engineers in the right direction, inspiring your teams to deliver outstanding outcomes and ensuring they have the necessary skills.
Responsibilities
Leadership and Management: Build and manage a world-class engineering team, providing technical direction, guidance, and hands-on management.
System Design and Architecture: Oversee front-end and back-end system design and architecture, promote and implement relevant engineering standards and best practices.
Project Management: Develop project plans and timelines for development and deployment, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
Technology Solutions: Identify, compare, select, and implement technology solutions to meet current and future needs.
Quality Assurance: Establish and maintain secure coding practices, ensuring the quality of deliverables.
Communication: Share technological visions, opportunities, and risks company-wide, fostering a culture of transparency and innovation.
Qualifications
10+ years of software development experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing cross-functional development teams.
Demonstrated experience in Python, React.js and its ecosystem, and database technologies (Postgres, RedShift, etc.) along with extensive hands-on understanding of the AWS stack
Proven ability to grow and scale software teams, including front-end, back-end, and mobile development.
Ability to balance business needs with a sense of urgency while shipping high-quality engineering solutions.
Entrepreneurial approach with the ability to inspire and lead teams toward achieving exceptional outcomes.
Experience working with large-scale data sets at a data business.
